Riding the Pony Express

I suppose Rt. 66 could only take them so far. Now the guys have moved on to the Pony Express and are riding their way through Utah and Nevada.
I heard from the guys this morning and they are still having the time of their lives. They lost phone service for a few days but that certainly didn't stop them. I think that's John's shadow you see above, being that he is usually the photographer! Here's a pony express station they passed after they made it into Utah.

And here's another station. If you look closely, you'll see that they are in "the middle of nowhere" with the population decreasing rapidly! You better move on quickly guys! Haha, not really, but this is really neat stuff!

I'll keep you posted on where they are headed next. I don't even think THEY know yet!

Santa Monica

One of the most beautiful states they've been to, the guys crossed over into California on Friday and spent a day or two in the Golden State. Most of this time was spent in gorgeous Santa Monica. Take a look at these photos taken of the Santa Monica Boulevard and the Pacific Ocean.

Anyone else jealous right about now?

VIVA LAS VEGAS!

VIVA LAS VEGAS!Check it out! As the guys swung through Las Vegas, they made a trip to the Harley-Davidson satellite store on the boulevard.
But these fellas are on a mission. They have places to go and people to see - so the Vegas trip wasn't a long one. Off to the Hoover Dam! Man, take a look at that view...

Here are a few more photos of places they visited on this portion of the trip. The first is a photo on the wall of a Harley-Davidson dealership in Arizona.
Next is a photo of a general store in Hackman Arizona. Note the '57 Vette in the foreground...

The general stores in Arizona look a little different than ours, don't ya think? And before they moved on to California, they were able to stop and see England's famous London Bridge at Lake Havasu City.
...More to come!

The Grand Canyon!

Another milestone for the traveling threesome has been hit! One of the goals for the trip was to reach the grand canyon. Well - consider it done. As you'll see from the photos below, the guys have not only reached the Grand Canyon, but they picked up a friend along the way! (Who's your friend, guys??)

Clearly Larry is so excited, he's telling everyone about it already. Smile for the camera!

What visit to the Grand Canyon would be complete without a visit to Grand Canyon Harley-Davidson?
And another eventful day was complete and the everworthy tent was there to meet them for a peaceful evening. Ahh good ol' Rt. 66...

To Mexico, To Mexcio?

Contrary to what it looks like in this next photo - our Rt. 66 guys did not steer off course for a fun weekend in Mexico! No, they stayed within the US and continued to venture across Arizona.

Part of the visit to the old West included a trip to the O.K. Corral gunfight site. I'm sure some interesting things took place here back in the 1800's!

Maybe all the gunfight fun is what led these "three amigos" to one of the oldest graveyards in the United States, the BoothHill Graveyard, established in 1879. Among the tombstones were those of Lester Moore and "China Mary"

ON TO ARIZONA...

Our riding crew had just a few more stops on New Mexico before crossing over into Arizona. They weren't quite finished viewing the architecture and history. Here is one last look of the history New Mexico has to offer-

And after the viewing was done, it was ON TO ARIZONA! Larry must have given John a break from his photography duties since he's the one missing from the photo!

And here are our Road Warriors 'standing on the corner' in Winslow, Arizona-

The gang still seems to be having the time of their lives, and making lots of memories along the way. If this isn't inspiration to other people considering a trip like this - I don't know what would be! So far, the stops along Historic Route 66 have been anything but disappointing...

New Mexico!

Last week the guys reached New Mexico and wow did they see a lot of fascinating things! Check out the mountains in the background!
After a nice ride through this beautiful scenery, they found themselves at both the oldest church and oldest house ever built in the United States...

And one of the oldest post offices, too. Obviously, this post office is no longer in use...

In just a few short days, they managed to see so much history. Here are a few photos of murals they passed along the way...

And of course, the ride was rounded out by a luxurious stay in the "pack-a-tent" on a campground outside of Albuquerque.
Here you'll see Larry and Dick relaxing on the bench, and JUST a sliver of John's finger on the lens. We can't wait to see what's in store next for these fellas!

The LONESTAR State!

The boys are moving right along. It's been a little over one week and they're cruising through Texas as we speak. After a visit to the Devil's Rope Museum - they were starting to feel that Texas heat! Don't worry though, it hasn't slowed them down!

We got an email this morning from a gentleman they met while passing through Illinois. He had great things to say about the guys and wanted to know how their trip was going. Check out these pictures to see for yourselves...

OKLAHOMA, HERE WE COME!

The guys are making good time thus far. They've been on the road for 5 days and are already in good ol' Oklahoma! They have had some nice meals along the way - enjoying every minute. No time limitations allows them to take it all in. Here are some photos from their first few days of the Adventure...

THEIR DIGS....

These guys know the true meaning of the open road. They aren't lying in the luxery of hotel rooms at night. They are living and breathing the entire experience, sleeping in a tent that folds down and travels along with them on the back of John's bike. Check it out!

It holds all of their luggage and doubles as their housing!
